Bar Alto Atlanta (Exhibitions)

Overview

In June 2011, Parsons & Charlesworth were invited by Alexandre Bettler and Jerome Rigaud from DesignMarketo to contribute a Duralex Picardie design for their Bar Alto Atlanta exhibition during Modern Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia.

Some things are just meant to be. The serendipitous discovery that the lid of another design classic—the Weck canning jar—fitted onto the Duralex Picardie glass led to the conclusion that what was needed was to fill this new assemblage with Campari Jam—a flavorsome reminder of last night’s Negroni* at this morning’s breakfast.

Bar Alto originated in Milan as a pop up homage to Bar Basso, a primary gathering place for attendees of the annual Milan Furniture Fair. Each iteration of the bar features a new collection of modified Duralex glasses (a Bar Basso standard) by 10-12 invited designers. And, of course, Negronis (also a Bar Basso standard) were available to all.

*Negroni is 1/3 of Campari, 1/3 of vermouth and 1/3 of gin and is a variant of the Americano, invented by the Count of Negroni who wanted something a little stronger. Campari Jam recipe includes strawberries, peaches and Campari- adapted from dinnerfornone
